Indiana/Kentucky

“I have had the good fortune to have the Safe Schools' Helpline in two separate school corporations in which I have served as principal. My experience with the service is such that I would recommend it without reservation.

In one school, through information obtained from the Helpline, we intervened successfully in more than one suicide threat. We also were able to prevent a plan to bring a loaded gun to school. This year, as a direct result of information received, we have discovered and solved problems with information obtained.

On numerous occasions we get information which assists us in dealing with intimidation and treats, and although I cannot support reduced vandalism with empirical data, I am convinced that vandalism has decreased. Preventing problems and dangerous situations is simply a better approach.

We place posters in all area businesses and routinely remind parents and students through announcements and written communication of the service. This encourages use and reminds everyone that we all have a shared responsibility for school safety.”
